Built by Hennessey, this VelociRaptor is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 tuned to produce 758 horsepower, a 308-horsepower increase over a non-modified, V6-powered Raptor. It also features an air-to-water intercooler, a 3-inch suspension lift, 20-inch Hennessey 10-spoke wheels, an array of model-specific exterior badges, and embroidered headrests, among other modifications made by the Texas-based tuner. Hennessey builds a small handful of VelociRaptors annually; this is number 32, according to a plaque in the engine bay. Designed to speed across the desert, Baja racing-style, the second-generation Raptor made its debut for the 2017 model year with an impressive list of off-road hardware. It also weighed about 500 pounds less than its predecessor thanks in part to the widespread use of aluminum.
Hennessey reinstated the V8 in the Raptor’s engine bay when it released the second-generation VelociRaptor for the 2019 model year. After turning up the power dial, it quoted a 4.1-second sprint from 0 to 60 mph, and a 12.2-second quarter-mile time at 115 mph.
Power comes from a supercharged 5.0-liter “Coyote” V8, which produces 758 horsepower. Output is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
