Description:
Two updates made late in the 1968 model year contribute to the rarity of this low-mileage 1968 Shelby GT500KR. In April 1968, Ford introduced the 428 Cobra Jet big-block engine, which quickly replaced the 428 Police Interceptor as the standard powerplant for the Shelby GT500. To differentiate the new CJ version from the previous model, Carroll Shelby swooped in and snagged the copyright for “King of the Road,” a name proposed for a Chevrolet muscle car. Thus, all CJ-powered Shelbys were renamed GT500KR. Around the same time, Ford announced six special exterior paints, including a Bright Yellow of only 86 were built. Shelby #4010. Very RARE!
